I was reading about James's case again, and I can't stop thinking about the impact this must have had on his classmates and teachers at St. Bernard-Elmwood Place High School. You know, being 18 is such a crucial time in someone's life—you're about to graduate, maybe thinking about college or starting work, planning for the future. For his peers, witnessing a friend's life cut so short must have been incredibly distressing. I saw some of the tributes his friends shared online, and it's clear he was loved. I can only imagine the empty seat in the classroom and the space he left in their hearts. Sending love to everyone who knew him as they navigate through this huge loss.
