Hey everyone, I’ve been reading through some of the older cases and came across Donna Jean Michalenko’s disappearance from 1968. Something I find puzzling is the delay in reporting her missing—over six weeks! I understand that she had a history of leaving for periods of time, but wouldn't the people around her start to get suspicious after maybe only a couple of weeks? It makes me wonder whether there were any signs that went unnoticed, or if there was a sense of denial about her absence at first. I know times were different back then, but six weeks seems so long, even with her history. Does anyone have insights or similar cases where families waited this long to report a missing family member? Could really use some perspective on this part of the case!
