I’ve been digging into some of the details of Susan Basile’s disappearance and I keep coming back to the description of that van with "Aries" on the side. This seems like such a unique and identifiable detail. Does anyone know if the authorities ever tracked down vehicles matching that description back in 1975? I haven’t been able to find any information about whether a search for that van was conducted right after Susan went missing. It’s frustrating to think there might have been a chance to track down the culprits through that van, especially because that vehicle's detail is very specific. Also, if any long-time residents from Port Orange remember something about it, your insights could be crucial. Maybe someone noticed that vehicle back then and didn’t realize its significance. Every little bit helps.
I was recently reading about Susan Basile's disappearance, and something about Gerald Stano's confession doesn't sit right with me. I find it odd that he claimed to know the exact location where he supposedly left her body, but the site was said to have been built over by the time it was investigated. It's almost like the specifics conveniently lined up to have no available evidence left. It's maddening that there was never a tangible lead, and he wasn't charged. Does anyone know if Stano was known for similar claims in other cases where the sites were unreachable or destroyed? I'm curious if this was a common tactic or just pure coincidence.
