Does anyone here know if there were any major events or gatherings in Pine Ridge around late September 1974? I'm trying to piece together what might have brought Wheeler to the area. He seemed to vanish without a trace, and with so few details available, I'm curious if there was anything significant happening at the time that might have drawn him there. It's eerie that his last contact was with law enforcement. Could he have been involved in something or witnessed something unusual? Any local history buffs or longtime residents have more insights on what Pine Ridge was like back then?
