I've been thinking a lot about the tragic murder of Andres Cortez Gomez back in '95. It's been 28 years and I can't even imagine what his family must have gone through and are still going through. It was such a violent time around Doug Wilson Farm Camp, with at least 14 other robberies happening to migrant workers in that period. It really makes me wonder about the environment these workers were living in, constantly under threat. It must have been terrifying. I read that the suspect was described as a black male, around 5'6" to 5'8", and heavy set. Such a vague description, and there were three of them on that horrific day. Very little to go on after nearly three decades, but there has to be someone out there who remembers something, right? I hope with developments in technology or even just a chance encounter, someone can bring new information forward. I keep Andres and his loved ones in my thoughts, hoping someday justice will be served. If anyone has any info, please don't hesitate to reach out to the authorities. Every little bit could help.

I’ve been following Andres Cortez Gomez’s case, and something that really struck me is how vulnerable these farm worker communities seemed to be at the time. With over a dozen robberies occurring in just a couple of years, it’s hard not to wonder if more could have been done to protect them. It must have been terrifying for Andres and others living in those camps back then, knowing that these robberies were happening so frequently. My heart goes out to Andres’s family and all those who were affected by that wave of crime. It’s infuriating and so incredibly sad that he lost his life in such a senseless manner. Has anyone come across any information about steps that were taken by authorities during that period to prevent these crimes, or if there were any community efforts to protect the workers? I think it’s important that we continue to shed light on this and remember Andres, hoping for justice someday.

Hi everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the Andres Cortez Gomez case, and there’s an aspect that keeps bothering me. The amount of fear and tension that must have been present among the farm workers during that time must have been unimaginable. It's truly awful that at least 14 robberies were reported before this tragic event. I can only imagine how Andres must have felt living in that environment, and it’s disheartening that a place meant for livelihood and community turned dangerous. I wonder if more security or community awareness could have made a difference back then, or if the local authorities had resources stretched too thin to intervene more effectively. For those who were present during those years or know about similar incidents, how did your communities handle the atmosphere of fear, and what changes have you seen since then? I think sharing these experiences might help us understand and prevent such tragedies in the future. Sending thoughts to Mr. Gomez's family and friends. Stay safe, everyone.
