Has anyone else noticed how often missing persons cases from the early '80s lack detailed records? Stephan Charles Dunaetz's case really stands out in this regard. I mean, we've got a disappearance labeled as "suspicious," but there's barely anything on file that gives us a clearer picture. It's like he just vanished into thin air, and no one seems to have seen or heard anything despite how crucial those early days would have been. Is it just a case of poor documentation back then, or could there be another reason we're not seeing as much info as we do in more recent cases? It’s intriguing how records and investigation techniques having evolved might have played a role in the lack of leads for Stephan’s case. Would love to hear what you all think about how investigations from that era might be impacting current unsolved cases!
Has anyone here ever looked into the detail about Stephan Dunaetz's connection to the local music scene back in the 80s? Since he was living in LA, it's possible he might have had some ties with bands or artists, even if just socially. I've seen in other cases that connections from social circles can sometimes provide new angles. With so little known about what led up to his disappearance, maybe someone from that scene might remember something, even this many years later. I think reaching out to folks from that era, maybe through old music forums or social media groups dedicated to LA's music history, might uncover someone who knew him or his whereabouts during that time. It’s a long shot, but sometimes these cold cases benefit from creative thinking and reaching out in unexpected places.
