Hey everyone, I was digging into the Evelyn "Laverne" Mackey case again and something's been bugging me about the financial aspects. Did anyone else notice how quickly Mearl moved on emptying her bank account? It's as if he couldn't wait to get his hands on her money right after she disappeared. I mean, why would someone who's supposedly grieving and worried about their wife's mysterious disappearance be rushing to access her funds? Seems super suspicious to me, especially considering his conflicting stories about Evelyn's whereabouts. I feel like this is an angle that could've been explored more back when the case first surfaced. Wondering what everyone else thinks about this financial angle and if it could reveal more about what actually happened.
I've been following Evelyn "Laverne" Mackey's case, and I can't shake the feeling that the "fishing accident" story Mearl gave sounds fishy (pun intended). What's really bugging me is that if it truly was an accident, why didn't he call for help immediately? The whole "tying to an anchor" thing sounds like someone trying to hide a crime, not an innocent accident. Also, has anyone looked into the financial situation around that time? Like, did Evelyn have any life insurance policies or something that Mearl could've benefited from when he started messing with her bank accounts? I'm also curious if there were any other patterns or allegations of financial issues in Mearl's past. Thoughts?
Has anyone else noticed the odd timing regarding Mearl Mackey emptying Evelyn's bank account? It strikes me as incredibly suspicious that as soon as Evelyn went "missing," Mearl was quick to start withdrawing money. It's almost like he was trying to financially distance himself from her right away. I wonder if anyone looked into where that money actually ended up. Could it have been spent on something specific that would point to premeditation? I think this aspect deserves more attention. It just seems too coincidental that money would be drained so promptly without any legitimate reason when she supposedly left town. Thoughts?
