Hey everyone, I've been digging into Helmut Ernst Altmann's case—it's been such a mystery that's puzzled so many of us here. Has anyone else looked into the rental car angle? It's wild to think not only Helmut but the white 1984 Chevrolet Camaro he rented has vanished without a trace. This was back in the '80s, right at the start of those security camera days. Does anyone know if there were cameras near the hotel or on the roads to Big Sur when he disappeared? It's always struck me how both he and the car just vanished. If anyone has any insights or can dig up info on whether there were any sightings of that Camaro, it might give us a fresh lead in this longstanding mystery.

I came across Helmut Ernst Altmann’s case while researching unsolved disappearances, and something's been bugging me about the rental car. How does a whole vehicle, especially a white 1984 Chevrolet Camaro, just vanish without a trace? It makes me wonder if it was disposed of somewhere remote after the foul play or if it was perhaps hidden in plain sight. I remember hearing about stolen cars being shipped overseas back in the day. Could this be the case here? Or maybe it met a different fate near Big Sur, considering how vast and rugged that area is. It’s unsettling how both Helmut and the car vanished. Anyone else have theories about what might have happened with the car or if it could lead back to him somehow?

Does anyone else find it odd that Helmut's disappearance coincided with his planned sightseeing trip to Big Sur? It’s such a beautiful, but remote area. I know it’s purely speculation, but could something have happened to him on those winding roads or maybe he encountered someone out there with bad intentions? The fact that the rental car was never found just adds to the mystery. I wonder if there were any reports of accidents or abandoned vehicles around that time. It’s baffling because, despite all the personal belongings left in the hotel, there’s zero trace of where he or the car ended up. Would love to hear if anyone has more info about incidents reported around Big Sur back then or if there were any similar cases.
