Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the sudden escalation of violence in the Montreal crime scene around 2000, and it always circles back to the murder of Andr Desjardins. It’s so unsettling to consider how someone could carry out such a calculated act in broad daylight.
What struck me in this case was how the weapon—a .22 Ruger with a silencer—was just left behind. It's almost like whoever did it wanted to send a clear message but then vanished without a trace—classic signature of a professional hit. It must have been terrifying for anyone at the restaurant or nearby at the time, and my heart goes out to Desjardins's family who had to process this gruesome loss amidst so much public scrutiny.
Anyone else find it interesting (or frustrating) that despite this being so high-profile, there remains such a shroud of mystery over the identity of the shooter? It seems like there were so many clues, from the wiretapped calls to the condo break-in in the Dominican Republic. Yet, years later, the case is just...cold.
Would love to hear your thoughts or any theories you think might explain how so much could stay under wraps. It really makes you wonder about the inner workings of organized crime during that time.
Stay safe, everyone.
