Hey everyone,
I was reading about Charles Detweilder Allen's case the other day, and something about it really stuck with me. It's about the timeline of when he was reported missing. His friend didn't notify authorities until two weeks after he was last seen. I can't help but wonder why it took that long. Was it because they thought he might just turn up on his own? Maybe there were reasons people assumed he needed space? I feel like those two weeks could have been critical for the investigation.
Does anyone have thoughts on what might cause such a delay? Or if it was common back in the '80s to wait that long before reporting someone missing? Would love to hear your insights!
Also, if you're local to Arcata or know about the area during that time, could there have been any community factors at play here?
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I was digging through some older cases and came across Charles Detweilder Allen's disappearance from Arcata back in 1985. One thing that really caught my attention was his mental state at the time he went missing. It seems like this aspect didn't get much focus in the initial reports. Has there been any discussion or insight into what might have been troubling him? Mental health awareness was not as prominent back then, and I can't help but wonder if he might have been seeking help or showing signs that were overlooked. Maybe someone out there remembers an incident or conversation that could shed light on this. Thoughts?
