It's haunting to think about the impact this tragedy had on the community and the families of Mario and Diane. I was particularly touched by how the initial investigation seemed to have overlooked some critical details. I can't imagine the frustration and anguish Diane's father, Jacques, must have felt when he realized the local police might have mishandled aspects of the case. The documentary "Le Dernier soir" shed new light on the situation, but it makes you wonder how different things might have been if those details about the murder weapon had been clear from the start. It's a chilling reminder of how vital thorough investigation is in these cases. My heart goes out to both families. I hope that with continued attention and advances in forensic technology, one day they'll find the answers they desperately seek. They deserve closure.
