I was diving into some old articles and couldn't stop thinking about how quickly the authorities dismissed Janet Smith's death as a suicide or accident. It's mind-boggling, especially with that severe head injury which doesn't seem to add up with their initial conclusion. I can't imagine the pain and frustration her friends and community felt, knowing that the investigation started off with such glaring oversights. Did anyone else find it strange how the coroner swiftly authorized embalming without a proper postmortem? It's almost as if they wanted to sweep everything under the rug. I really feel for Janet's loved ones, who had to fight so hard to even get an inquest going. It says a lot about the era's societal dynamics, but it makes me wonder if there are more layers to this cover-up than we might realize.
