I came across the Zaharias case and it made me wonder about the significance of unconfirmed sightings in missing persons investigations. I read that Susan and her children were possibly spotted in Pennsylvania and Michigan, but these leads seem to have dried up. How often do these kinds of reports lead to breakthroughs, and is there anything the public can do to help verify sightings? I can imagine how critical any sighting might be in such a complex case, especially when it spans across states. Anyone here with experience or insight into how these sightings are processed by authorities and the accuracy rate?
