I’ve been thinking about Lanessa’s situation, and it really hits hard when you consider the level of desperation and fear that must have surrounded her decision to finally leave Tyronne. Planning such a significant change, making secret arrangements, must've been incredibly stressful and terrifying at the same time. The strength and courage it took for her to start planning an escape speaks volumes about the kind of person she was, someone who valued her life and future despite the risk involved. It's important we recognize the signals and nuances of domestic abuse situations. If we can learn anything from this tragedy, it’s how crucial it is to support and listen to those who express a need to leave a dangerous environment. Lanessa seemed to have a plan lined up, which shows she was ready to reclaim her life—unfortunately, she never got the chance to see it through. I can’t stop thinking about how different things might have been if she’d had more time or more immediate support to act on her plans. My heart goes out to her family and friends left to endure the aftermath, and I hope this awful event raises awareness so that others in similar situations can find safety and peace before it’s too late. If anyone reading this is aware of someone in distress, please reach out, offer help, and perhaps you might save a life.
