Hey everyone,
I've been following the case from Gonzales, and like many of you, I’m deeply affected by what has happened to Tegan Daigle and Jared Downey. I wanted to touch on how this incident is affecting their peers at school and in the community.
Tegan was just 17, and to have his life cut short in such a tragic manner is immensely difficult for his friends to process. From what I’ve gathered, he was a senior with ambitions and dreams like anyone his age. It’s absolutely devastating to think about prom, graduation, and all the meaningful milestones he won't get to experience. His friends are understandably shaken, and many are struggling to navigate the complicated emotions brought on by this loss.
Schools should really think about bringing in grief counselors and resources to help students cope. I can only imagine the ripple effect this is having on the teachers and staff as well. It's essential for the community to support these young people, especially since they are trying to come to terms with a loss so close to home. It’s times like these that show just how important emotional and mental health support can be.
I'm hoping justice is served, but in the meantime, I'm definitely keeping Tegan’s and Jared's families in my thoughts. If anyone knows of any support efforts or vigils being organized, please share. The community’s strength is vital right now.
Stay safe and be kind to one another.
