I've been following this case from afar, and my heart really goes out to the Edwards family. I can't even imagine the pain they must have felt then and now, knowing that justice has yet to be formally realized for Parler. Something that's been gnawing at me is the issue of jurisdiction. Why did the case remain with the Amherst Police Department, and did that impact the ability to charge someone like Joseph Christopher, who was strongly linked to Parler's murder? It's especially curious how the backdrop of other serial killings at the time might have affected the investigation. With the media frenzy surrounding the ".22-Caliber Killer" and later the "Midtown Slasher," could important details have been overshadowed or lost in the scramble? Forensic technology has come a long way since 1980. I wonder if there’s anything that can still be done with existing evidence or if there are potential cold case approaches we aren't aware of. It feels like Parler deserves that chance for closure, not just for him, but for everyone who continues to feel the impact of his loss. If anyone has more information or thoughts, I’d love to hear them.
