I've been following the tragic case of Jacoi Cosey, and one aspect that's been weighing heavily on my mind is the impact on his classmates and the local school community. It's just devastating to imagine students returning to school and facing an empty seat where their friend once sat. Losing a peer so senselessly to violence has to shake them to their core. The fact that the school has stepped up to provide counseling and mental health services is commendable, but it's still such a daunting situation for everyone involved. Kids at that age shouldn't have to deal with the murder of a friend. I hope that they can find some solace through each other and the support offered, and that justice for Jacoi provides them with some sense of closure, even though it's a long and difficult road. Thoughts are with them all.
