I've been following the Karolkiewicz case closely, and my heart truly goes out to Smith and his entire family. It's such a tragedy that so many lives full of promise were lost at once. One thing that struck me was Smith’s love for the outdoors. It’s incredibly sad to think about his passion for collecting Petoskey stones and sea glass, and how he won’t get the chance to grow that interest into lifelong hobbies.
What's even more poignant is the image of Smith as an older brother. It seems like he was very caring and protective of his younger brother, Teddy. That bond must have meant the world to both of them. I think it’s so important that in our discussions, we keep bringing up the beautiful lives they lived rather than just focusing on the horrific end. Let's remember Smith not just as a victim, but as a vibrant child with a love for his family, the outdoors, and new adventures.
If anyone has other memories or thoughts about Smith and his family, I'd love to hear them. Keeping their spirit alive in our conversations feels like the very least we can do.
