It's deeply troubling to read about Eugene McQueen's untimely death at Marymount Hospital, especially realizing that it was just the tip of the iceberg in Donald Harvey's horrifying spree. I can't imagine the devastation McQueen's family must have felt, believing his death was a result of his illness only to find out years later it was something far darker. While Harvey eventually faced justice, it's unsettling to know there wasn't an immediate investigation. The hospital environment is supposed to be a place of healing, yet it became a hunting ground for a killer. It makes one wonder about the systems in place back then and how many warning signs might have been missed. My heart goes out to all the families affected.
