I just came across some information about James Peluso's murder by Donald Harvey, and it really got me thinking about how his death was part of a bigger spree. It's so unsettling to realize that Peluso's death wasn't even known to be a homicide until years later. I can't imagine the pain his loved ones must have felt, having no closure for so long and then finding out about the foul play in such a public way.
The fact that Harvey used arsenic in food, in something as seemingly innocuous as pudding, makes the whole situation even more chilling. It's heartbreaking to think about how he could betray someone's trust in such an intimate setting. I feel for Peluso's family who had to deal with this revelation as part of a massive criminal investigation, without the opportunity for a trial focused solely on James himself. It's horrific how his death just got swept into the larger narrative of Harvey’s crimes.
Has anyone here been following the details of Harvey's plea deals? I'm curious how they justified not having separate trials for each victim. It's tough to see justice served when individual cases like Peluso's seem to get lost in the shuffle.
