I recently read about Milton Bryant Sasser, and it's so unsettling to think about how his death went unrecognized as part of a serial killer's spree for so long. Just a regular day at the hospital turned into a nightmare without anyone knowing. It’s devastating to consider how Sasser’s family must have felt all those years, thinking he’d passed naturally, only to find out much later that his life was taken in such a callous way. The trust we put in healthcare workers is profound, and to be betrayed like that by someone in such a position is truly chilling.
What really got to me was how Harvey managed to carry out these murders for such a long period undetected. It's a haunting reminder of the vulnerability of patients in medical settings. We tend to assume hospitals are safe havens, and stories like these shatter that sense of security. It’s important to honor the memory of those like Sasser and hope that these tragic events led to changes in hospital procedures and more rigorous checks on those who have access to medications.
Sending thoughts to the family and friends of all of Harvey's victims. I hope they’ve found some semblance of peace after living through such an ordeal. Does anyone else know more about how hospitals have changed their oversight practices since cases like this came to light?
