I've been down the rabbit hole lately on this whole Donald Harvey case, and something about Margaret Harrison's story just gets to me. Imagine being 91, surviving a heart attack, and all you want is a little time to recover in peace at Marymount Hospital. Yet, instead of finding safety, she falls victim to a monster right where she's supposed to be cared for. It's chilling to think about how Harvey manipulated those moments, how he stayed with her as the drugs took effect. He later claimed it was to "end her suffering"—but who gets to decide that? It's unnerving how easily someone like him could blend into the environment of a hospital and go unnoticed for so long. Margaret deserved better, and it’s a reminder of how we need to stay vigilant in places we often assume are safe. Thinking of her family and the heartbreak they must have carried all those years without knowing the truth behind her passing. The bravery it must have taken for them to revisit such a painful chapter when all this came to light is something I can’t even imagine.
