I've been thinking a lot about the children left alone after Nikia's murder. How absolutely terrifying and confusing it must have been for them. Being so young and having to fend for themselves in such a horrific situation is unimaginable. I wonder what steps were taken to ensure those kids got the support they needed after everything that happened. Did they get placed with family, or did they have to go through foster care? It's so important they receive love and stability after such a traumatic experience. My heart goes out to them and the rest of Nikia's family. They must have been incredibly strong to deal with the aftershocks of such a tragedy. If anyone has insights or resources on how victim's families are supported in these situations, I'd love to learn more. It's vital that we remember all the people impacted by these crimes, not just the perpetrator or the headlines.
