I've been following the case of Egbert Rutherford and Curtis Brown closely, and it's truly disturbing how gun violence has once again claimed innocent lives. What strikes me most is the utter randomness of it all. Imagine sitting with a friend, playing dominoes—a simple joy that they must have cherished—only to have it turn into a nightmare.
From what I've read about Egbert, he seemed like such a pillar of strength. Working tirelessly as a home health aide, he provided care not only out of duty but also out of the kindness of his heart. It's particularly heart-wrenching to hear how his wife, Angelique, spoke of him with such love and admiration.
I can't help but hope for some solidarity within the community, that people speak up if they know anything. The release of those surveillance photos is a step in the right direction, and hopefully, it leads to something concrete. I'm sending love and strength to the families of both men. They deserve justice, and those who knew them deserve a sense of security within their own neighborhood. This senseless violence needs to come to an end.
