It's so gut-wrenching to think about how the system sometimes fails those it’s supposed to protect. Brianna did everything she could within her power—reporting the assaults, getting a protective order, filing for divorce. It's infuriating that even taking these brave measures wasn't enough to keep her safe. I've read that protective orders should prevent abusers from having access to firearms, so how did Albert manage to get one? It's just beyond comprehension. My heart goes out to Brianna’s family and especially her two children. They've been through unimaginable trauma, and losing both parents in such a violent way must be a devastating burden. I hope they get the love and support they need to heal from this tragedy. This case is a tragic reminder of how we need more effective measures to protect victims of domestic violence and keep perpetrators from slipping through the cracks in the system. It's disheartening to think about how many others out there might be in a similar situation right now, feeling hopeless. I wish there was more awareness and resources available to truly make a difference for those at risk.
