I’ve been following the heartbreaking case of Herbert Jolley, and my heart goes out to his family. I can’t stop thinking about the safety aspect for the elderly in our communities. It’s terrifying to think that someone could do this to an 88-year-old man, someone who was on oxygen and using a walker. It makes me wonder if enough is being done to protect the vulnerable.
Are neighborhood watches effective anymore, or do you think we need more community-based programs to help protect seniors? How can we support those who might be more isolated or at risk? It’s distressing to think that Mr. Jolley might still be with his family if more precautions were in place. I can't stop thinking about what happened to Mr. Jolley, especially the fact that this was such a brutal and senseless act. I'm genuinely appalled that someone would do this to an elderly man who couldn't even fight back. It just doesn't make any sense to me why someone would target him. From what his family has said, he seemed like such a kind soul who would give the shirt off his back if asked.
