Has anyone else been following the Kristy Syed case? I can't stop thinking about how her family, particularly her young son, will navigate life after such a devastating loss. I was especially struck by something I read about her love for animals and how she brought joy to those around her. It's so hard to wrap my head around what could drive someone to take the life of such a gentle and kind person. I keep coming back to the surveillance video her family mentioned. The thought of Kristy pleading for her life is absolutely haunting. It’s difficult to imagine how her sister and other family members must feel having seen those final moments. I hope they're finding the strength to support one another during this incredibly hard time. It’s perplexing and frustrating that the person of interest is dead—there are so many unanswered questions about why this happened, and the family deserves some form of closure. Milwaukee has seen its share of violence, but this feels so personal and senseless. My heart truly aches for Kristy’s family and her son. I hope they’re being surrounded by love and support right now.
