I've been following the Brookwood case closely, and something that's been on my mind is how this tragedy has impacted the University of Alabama community. Jazmine Alexis Bates was so close to reaching a major milestone—graduation. It’s devastating to think about how her future was stolen from her, and how her friends and fellow students are coping with this loss. As a student myself, I can't even imagine the overwhelming grief her classmates and professors must be feeling. She probably attended her last few classes, maybe even shared her aspirations and plans post-graduation. It’s these personal connections that make it all the more real and heart-wrenching. I can only hope that the university and the community are providing strong support systems for everyone affected. Does anyone know if there are plans for any kind of memorial or vigil on campus to honor her memory?
