I can't stop thinking about the impact this tragedy must be having on Everett's classmates and teachers at Bayou Meto Elementary. Losing such a vibrant young student like Everett, who clearly brought so much joy and curiosity to the classroom, must be devastating for everyone involved. I'm grateful to hear that the school district is providing counselors and support personnel, but it makes me wonder what more we can do as a community to help these young children process such a traumatic event. How do we help them understand the gravity of losing a friend while fostering a sense of safety and security in their environment? My heart goes out to all of Everett’s loved ones, especially his school friends who will always carry a little piece of him with them. If anyone has resources or advice on supporting kids through grief, please share.
