Has anyone else been following the Cortnay McDougald case from 2016? I was re-reading some old articles and couldn't shake the thought of how his family must feel all these years later, still without any closure. It's just so frustrating to see how gun violence has lingered as a persistent problem in Durham. I can't help but wonder what more could have been done or can still be done to support the families who are in this painful limbo. It's tough to see these cases staying unsolved and the effect it must have on a community that's been grappling with safety concerns for years. If anyone has thoughts or updates, I'd appreciate hearing them. It's important we continue to shine a light on cases like these so they don't get forgotten.
I've been thinking a lot about the tragic death of Cortnay McDougald. Something that's sticking out to me is how his murder kind of highlights this overwhelming sense of frustration and helplessness in Durham during that time. So many families were going through the same heart-wrenching experience, waiting for justice that seems to be on a perpetual hold. It's just so incredibly sad knowing that Cortnay's family, along with many others, are left in such deep pain, hoping for closure that might never come. I really hope that more resources can be dedicated to solving these cases, not just for justice, but also to give these families even a little bit of peace. Anyone else thinking about this?
