I’ve been following Josh Starnes’ case closely, and something keeps gnawing at me about the circumstances that led up to that awful night. Considering the details about Micah Lackey being DUI and involved in a hit-and-run right before the shooting, it makes me wonder about the patterns that lead to these tragic events. Was there something in Lackey's history, like previous DUI instances or other run-ins with the law that could have flagged him as a potential danger? It breaks my heart for Josh's family, knowing this might have been preventable with different interventions or consequences for past behaviors. Losing a person like Josh, who seemed so dedicated to his work and family, all over a reckless, alcohol-fueled decision just seems beyond senseless. His love for football games with his wife and daughters shows how connected he was to his family, and I can't imagine the void his absence has left in their lives. The legal process needs to deliver justice, but my hope is that it also sheds light on how we can prevent similar tragedies. Does anyone know if Louisville has any community programs dedicated to tackling repeat DUI offenders? Every life lost to preventable violence is a deeply painful reminder of the change that we so desperately need.
