I've been following the tragedy in Sandy, and my heart goes out to all the families tangled up in this nightmare. One thing that's been echoing in my mind is the role of bystanders like Kobyn. It's both inspiring and gut-wrenching to hear about how young he was yet so brave to intervene. It really makes you think about how ordinary people can perform extraordinary acts of bravery under unimaginable circumstances. I can't stop thinking about the impact on his peers at Sandy High School. Losing a friend and a classmate in such a violent and senseless way must be absolutely devastating. It's clear from all the tributes and memorials that Kobyn wasn't just a hero in that moment, but he was living with kindness every day. Having my own kids, it's something I wish the whole world could take away from this—that courage and kindness can reside in any person, even a teenager. Praying for healing and justice for everyone affected. I'm thankful for Sergeant Thornton’s recovery, but it’s going to be a long journey for many involved. ?
