Has anyone looked into the weather conditions on the day Michael Jeffrey Barker disappeared? I stumbled across some info about how unpredictable the Cascade River can be, especially during certain times of the year. I wonder if there were heavy rains or maybe snowmelt increasing the river flow around July 10, 2000. It might not change much about what happened to Michael, but it could explain why he never made it back if currents were stronger than usual. Would be interesting if any local reports from around that time mentioned unusual river conditions. Thoughts?

Does anyone have any insight into recovery techniques or technology advancements that have improved since Michael Jeffrey Barker went missing? I was reading the details of his case, and it got me thinking about how much search and rescue operations have evolved over the past couple of decades. Given how treacherous the waters of the Cascade River can be, I wonder if modern technology like drones or underwater sonar might have made a difference in the search efforts back in 2000. It’s haunting to think that no trace has ever been found. I’m curious if any advancements have been made in similar cases, leading to some kind of resolution. Anyone connected to SAR teams or familiar with river recoveries have thoughts on this?
