I was recently reading about the *Nesika* tragedy again and I'm struck by how the community still feels the impact, even after all these years. I went down to the Newport Fishermen's Memorial Sanctuary the other day, and it's such a poignant spot. Seeing Jared Hamrick's name there, along with those of others lost at sea, is a stark reminder of the risks these brave fishermen take every single day. The fact that Jared was trying to build a future for himself and his fiancée makes it all the more devastating. Do any locals here remember the immediate aftermath of the accident? I'm curious to know how the community pulled together during that time and any ways they continue to support families affected by such losses today.
