I’ve been following the tragic case of Amaree Dawson, and something that's been on my mind is the role of ShotSpotter in cases like this. I know they detected the gunfire early on March 29th, which allowed the South Side Entertainment Patrol to respond quickly. It makes me wonder how effectively this technology can actually aid investigations. In theory, ShotSpotter should help catch suspects more swiftly by providing a precise location and sometimes audio evidence. But the fact that no arrests have been made in Amaree’s case makes me question its real-life application. Does anyone have insights or thoughts on how reliable ShotSpotter is in leading to resolutions in shootings? I can only imagine the frustration and anguish Amaree’s family and friends must feel, waiting for justice to be served. If advancements like this aren’t enough, I hope investigators have other strategies they’re pursuing to bring peace to those who cared for him.
