Has anyone else been following the Wilomeana "Violet" Filkins case? Thinking about how a simple fingerprint could change everything... It's remarkable how advancements in forensic technology can bring long-awaited answers, even decades later. I can't help but feel for Violet's family, who must have lived with so much uncertainty for so long. It must be a strange mix of emotions to finally know what happened, but also face the reality that justice can't fully be served because of Guyette's suicide. And to think, he was only 17 back then, living right next door. I wonder what made him think he could get away with it? It's incredible how some people can harbor these dark intentions while appearing so normal to those around them.

Whenever I think about the tragedy that happened to Violet Filkins, I can't help but imagine the heartache her family went through for all those years. I recently read about how crucial the role of new forensic technology was in this case, especially the use of fingerprint analysis. It's amazing how a single piece of evidence, like a fingerprint, can hold so many answers and bring resolution after so long. It must have been incredibly challenging for Violet’s family, living with uncertainty and hope intertwined year after year. Although the conclusion isn’t a typical sense of justice, it’s reassuring that they finally have some closure. The dedication of those investigators who never gave up is truly commendable. I hope this advances the conversation about how important it is to continue refining forensic techniques—it can be the bridge between devastating ambiguity and the crucial truth families like Violet's need.
