Has anyone else considered the role that street lighting might have played in Damon Thompson's tragic case? I've been reading about how proper lighting can reduce crime rates, and I can't help but wonder if the area around South Grant Avenue was properly lit at the time. It's so upsetting to think that something as simple as better visibility might have prevented this senseless loss.
I've walked around that part of downtown Columbus in the evening before, and there are definitely some spots that could use more light. It’s hard not to think of how Damon’s family must be feeling right now, and my heart goes out to them and his cousin, who witnessed it all. I hope the city considers looking into enhancing lighting in these areas as part of a broader crime prevention strategy. Meanwhile, if anyone has more insights on the conditions around the scene or similar incidents, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
