I still can't wrap my head around the unfathomable tragedy that struck the Cedar Grove neighborhood. It’s just so overwhelming and deeply saddening to think that these children, like Layla and her siblings, faced such terror in a place that should have been their sanctuary. I’ve been thinking a lot about the 911 calls and can’t even imagine the bravery of the people who escaped, helped others, and called for help that morning. It’s a testament to their courage in the face of such an unimaginable situation. The story of the teenage boy jumping from the roof to flee literally left me speechless – just a young person, acting on raw instinct, managing to escape the chaos. The response from law enforcement must have been incredibly swift, given what they were up against with multiple crime scenes and trying to piece everything together as the morning unfolded. My heart goes out to the officers and first responders who had to face such horror, too. For the community in Shreveport, now is the time for healing and support for the families affected. My thoughts and prayers remain with everyone there, hoping they find strength and comfort somehow in all this.
