Carlos Martinez, a 75-year-old man, was last seen on November 18, 2016, in Rosamond, California. At the time of his disappearance, he was suffering from early-stage dementia and depression, putting him at higher risk. Martinez left his home around 4:30 p.m., driving a white 2012 Nissan Frontier crew cab pickup truck (California license plate 8XT3227). Before leaving, he mentioned to his niece that he needed to speak with his boss about work, not realizing he had retired, a symptom of his dementia.
Martinez remained in contact with his family for a few days after leaving. The last known communication was on November 23, when he told his niece in South Los Angeles that he was on his way to visit her, but he never arrived. There are indications that he may have traveled to Tucson, Arizona, where he had lived for 20 years. Despite efforts by his family and authorities, neither Martinez nor his vehicle has been located. The case remains unsolved, and the Kern County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate.
