I’ve been following the case of Carl Chambers and can't stop thinking about how a simple Sunday gathering turned into such a tragedy. I live not far from Poughkeepsie, and it's unsettling to know this happened at a place supposed to be for community and enjoyment. My heart goes out to Carl’s family and friends during this difficult time. One thing that’s really been on my mind is the use of a high-powered rifle in the shooting. These aren't the kind of weapons you typically hear about in public disputes, especially at something as innocuous as a local soccer match. It raises so many questions—was this planned? Random? How did things escalate to this point? I hope anyone who knows something steps forward to help the police piece everything together.
