I've been following the tragic case of Jeanette and Guy Hatfield, and one detail that really got under my skin was the burglary that occurred right after their deaths. I can't begin to imagine the audacity and complete lack of humanity it takes to rob a home in the wake of such a horrifying incident. It's upsetting to think someone saw this as an opportunity to take advantage of an already devastating situation. My heart goes out to Jeanette's friends and family, especially the friend who had to find the house in such disarray. It's commendable how the community has pulled together, though, especially the animal rescue groups ensuring their pets are cared for. At least there’s some comfort in knowing those animals, which would’ve meant the world to Jeanette, are being looked after as they deserve. The resilience of the human spirit to do good even in the darkest of times is really something. If anyone hears updates on the burglary investigation, please share. It's important that whoever did this is held accountable, not just for the crime itself, but for adding more pain to an already unbearable situation.
