I've been thinking a lot about the witness who saw Jesse Ellis wading into the ocean after everything went down. I can't imagine being in their shoes, witnessing something so surreal. I mean, watching someone you don't know walk into the sea fully clothed and later learning they're connected to such a tragic event must be haunting. It’s easy to question why emergency responders let him go, but who would expect a man seeking help at sea to be involved in a crime like this? These responders have the impossible task of weighing human instinct against scarce information, and hindsight is always 20/20. I really feel for Stacie's and Danny’s families, especially with all these unanswered questions still looming over them. I hope they find some semblance of peace amidst all this chaos. And for the witness, I hope they are coping too, knowing they weren’t aware of the full picture in those crucial moments. Thoughts and prayers to everyone affected.
