I can’t stop thinking about the impact this tragedy must be having on the families of Sergio Adrian Segundo and Cristian Segundo Garcia. Losing two young men who were just trying to support their families back home is such a devastating blow. I’m particularly moved by how they were described as hardworking individuals working in the orchards of Kennewick, all to provide for their loved ones in Mexico. It’s terrible that something as simple as attending a celebration could end in such a senseless act of violence. I wonder how the community in Longview is coping with this incident. It’s clear from the number of attendees at the quinceañera that there’s a strong community there, and I hope they rally around the families of the victims. I’ve seen mention of a GoFundMe to help with the return of their bodies to Mexico, and I truly hope it reaches its goal. If anyone has more information on how to support their families, please share. It’s so important that they don’t feel alone during such a difficult time.
