I've been following this case out of Edinburg and my heart goes out to the families involved. I'm really puzzled about how the initial call was handled by the deputies. The initial 911 call referenced a "neighbor dispute," but the deputies left without any arrests or intensive investigation. Could this have been a missed opportunity to de-escalate tensions before they exploded later that evening? I understand they may find residents uncooperative, but shouldn’t there be a protocol in place for situations like this given the potential for escalation? It's just haunting to think that just a few hours later it turned into such a devastating event. Could the outcome have been different with a more robust initial response, perhaps bringing in mediation or conflict resolution officers? I'm curious what changes, if any, will be made in the department's response strategies following this. My prayers are with those poor children left without parents.
