Hey everyone, I've been following Alexis Locklear's case, and while my heart goes out to her family and those sweet children, I can't stop thinking about how public spaces in our communities have become so unsafe. It's terrifying to think your own porch or neighborhood street can be the setting for something so awful. I've read that some neighbors in the area have started a petition for more lighting and increased patrols in the neighborhood—pretty powerful how the community is coming together in the face of such tragedy. I'm also pondering how crucial it is for kids to have support from counselors and community programs after witnessing something like this. Does anyone know if resources are being put in place for her kids and other young witnesses? Connecting with others who have experienced similar losses might be vital for their healing process. Let’s keep supporting each other and hope for a future where we don’t have to endure these kinds of losses.
