I’ve been thinking a lot about the specific location where Denise Oliverson’s bike and sandals were found. It's haunted me how these seemingly mundane items tell such a grave story. The Fifth Street Bridge area, especially near a railroad viaduct, would have been a quiet yet potentially risky path. Did anyone else feel a chill at the thought that Bundy might have scouted places like this because they offered seclusion?
It's just so hard to imagine the terror Denise must have felt in those moments, offering no solace in a place she might have felt safe just hours earlier. My heart goes out to her family who still have no remains to lay to rest. The Colorado River keeps its secrets well hidden. Is there anyone from Grand Junction who remembers what that area was like back then? Maybe even small memories could trigger more insights.
Also, does anyone know if there were any security measures, like CCTV, installed on bridges at that time, or did those come much later? It's devastating how a stretch of riverbank remains the last known trace of an entire vibrant life, overshadowed by such horror. Denise deserved so much better.
