I’ve been following the case of Jamier Tanner, and while every detail of the story just hurts to think about, I’m particularly shaken up by the impact this has had on local schools. I heard the school district has been offering counseling services to students who knew Jamier, and even those who didn’t, because the loss has rippled through the community in such a profound way. It’s unfathomable to think about how his classmates and friends are processing this. They’ve lost not just a peer, but a shared sense of safety and normalcy. I hope they're getting all the support they need right now. This whole tragedy feels so close to home, like it’s not supposed to happen where kids should just be worrying about their next exam or football game. Sending love and support to everyone affected, especially the young ones who are having to deal with something no teenager should ever face. Jamier’s family—and those kids, too—need all the love and strength we can muster for them.
