I'm deeply saddened by the circumstances surrounding Niliyah Montgomery's death. Reflecting on the senseless escalation of violence that ended her young life, I'm struck by how often things get out of hand in moments of conflict. It's incredibly frustrating that something as preventable as a heated argument could spiral into such a devastating outcome. Niliyah was on a path to better herself for her little daughter, and it’s so unfair that her journey was cut short. I hope that her story serves as a wake-up call for our communities to find alternative and peaceful ways to resolve disagreements. We must find better ways to handle disputes to prevent such tragedies from continuing. My thoughts are with Niliyah’s family and especially her little girl during this unimaginably difficult time.
I just can't stop thinking about that moment when Niliyah, in spite of everything, turned back towards her home and her family only to be met with something so senseless and tragic. As a parent myself, I can't imagine the pain her mother must be feeling, having to witness such a devastating moment. It really makes you reflect on how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken away.
It's incredibly frustrating and tragic that no arrests have been made yet. I hope the San Bernardino Police are close to finding answers and justice for Niliyah and her family. If anyone in the community knows anything, I hope they find the courage to come forward. This family deserves peace, and little ones like Niliyah's daughter deserve to grow up in a world where such violence isn't the norm. My thoughts are with them during this unimaginable time.
