I’ve been following Oliver Sims' case, and I can’t stop thinking about how close this shooting was to where so many families were gathered for the holiday weekend. The fact that it happened so early in the evening, just after 5 p.m., is scary. It makes me wonder if the suspects knew the area would be crowded or even if they were familiar with that particular block on South Wabash Avenue. I keep hoping that someone might have witnessed something or caught a glimpse of the suspects, maybe even from their windows or doorbell cameras. It's terrifying to think there are people out there who would carry out such a ruthless act in such a public space. I'm sending all my thoughts to Oliver’s friends and family who are dealing with this senseless loss.
