I've been thinking a lot about Alexandra Wynter's role in the local community and how much of an impact she seemed to have had on everyone around her. Not only was she a bright student majoring in biological sciences at CSU Chico, but she was also incredibly involved outside of school. As the community connections director for the Community Action Volunteers in Education, she was actively working to make a difference. It's really something to see so many people come together for the vigils held in her honor, but at the same time, it's so tragic that we're honoring a vibrant life that was cut short. Knowing she worked with the unhoused population and at Enloe Health shows she was the kind of person who genuinely cared about the well-being of others. It's just so unsettling to think that someone with such a compassionate heart could have their life ended in such a violent way. I have a lot of respect for the university lowering its flag to half-staff and for the community showing such strong support for her family and friends. This loss must be unimaginably difficult for them, and I just hope they find some peace and healing in the outpouring of love and support. Does anyone know if there are any funds set up to continue her work in the community? I'd love to support anything that can help keep her spirit of service alive.
